You are not sure why age matters? Really?

I don't understand why it matters for Peter Green specifically, if Fleetwood Mac themselves, who are all roughly the same age, are still doing their thing. Then whether or not they, or any/all of the old rock dinosaurs from the 60s or 70s, should still be doing their thing at this age, is a different question.

Well I mentioned Green specifically because that's who was being talked about, that's how conversation works!
But I could have said the same thing if the suggestion was that Jeff Beck or someone like that join the band. The idea that any of these people can turn back the clock and reignite the creative fires of thirty or forty years ago is absurd. I have no problem with them still playing if that's what they want to do, but it's just a form of entertainment, it has little to no artistic purpose and shouldn't be viewed through that prism.

Agreed. They play to make up what Medicare doesn't pay for. Or seem to.

I get it - they play music for a living and are lifers at their profession. I commend them for that. I don't necessarily want to see them myself.

I've been told, however, that Smokey Robinson still has it and is very good live.

It's because we can't stand modern music but still like going to concerts. And the new concert halls are equipped to handle us - lots of restrooms and comfy seating.

Let's face it, if we're not dead we'll still be posting on BCB when we're 83.

Avril Lavigne filling in for Stevie Nicks will be well worth the wait.

:)

It makes perfect sense.

It reminds me of Communist Russian leaders at the end of their days, incapable of speech or independent movement, being wheeled out and propped up for adoring audiences.

I'm not exaggerating - I saw Brian Wilson last year.

Brits adore seeing tribute acts, because it's just SO MUCH FUN. Look at the costumes, what an absolute hoot!

Bring Chad Krueger in while we’re at it - his locks are pretty Buckinghamesque after all.

I won't rest until Fleetwood Mac is entirely Canadian.

The vast majority of bands/artists I have seen over the past 3 years have been over 50. It’s just the way it’s going.

Gary Numan, Seal, Erasure, Penetration, Procol harum, Robert Cray, Al Stewart, Woody Woodmansey and Tony Visconti, Pet Shop Boys, Steve Howe, Roy Harper, Billy Bragg, PiL, Rickie Lee Jones, The Rezillos, The Proclaimers, King Crimson, Richard Thomson, Bryan Ferry.

Some of these are in their Seventies - Ferry is 72 and I’m seeing him again next week.

Rolling Stone says

they've already decided that this tour will feature songs from the entire history of Fleetwood Mac, not just the original Buckingham/Nicks run from 1975 to 1987. “We were never able to do that since 1975 because certain people in the band weren’t interested in doing that,” says Nicks. “Now we’re able to open the set with a lot; a raucous version of [1969’s] ‘Rattlesnake Shake’ or something. I’d also like to do [1970’s] ‘Station Man,’ which has always been one of may favorites. We’re definitely doing [1970’s] ‘Oh Well.’”

would be nice if they included some Bob Welch material

Which is more up Neil Finn's alley, I would think.
