Fuck knows but i bet it’s got six syllables.

Today's word is "fudge", taken from the "alternate/ perverted live version lyrics" to King Crimson's classic "Easy Money."

"making fudge" I believe, which is only a bit less gross.

Of course, it could just as easily have been Soyars' Delirium.

Or "packing fudge," which is more.

Yes, but I wasn't part of that legendary conversation at the Joker.

Yes, but I wasn't part of that legendary conversation at the Joker.

The only conversation I remember from the Joker was talking to Six String's wife about Herman's Hermits.

People are really PISSED about other people liking the wrong things.

I think their time would be better spent going to schoolyards and arguing with the sophomores about why their music taste is wrong, It's important to make other people like the right things at a young age. By the time you get to be my age, you are irredeemable and just bound to piss people people off with your continued existence.

Ah, I beg to differ! Our resident prog boys say Floyd is not prog.

and they would be wrong, while Pink Floyd could be placed in other genre for parts of their career, it is generally accepted that Pink Floyd are a prog band and actually might be considered the biggest of the six giants. In fact PF are the beginning of the sub prog genre-space rock and are a large influence on many prog bands.

So I dunno... should I start a thread about Peter Hammill's music from the 1990s on? He did a couple in the '80s that weren't for me, so I just moved on. (25 albums was enough.) But he rebounded and is back to great again. I'm just picking out songs on youtube, then reading the lyrics from his site. A true force, still at it. Yep, God bless Peter Hammill. So should I start it? I don't care if I'm the only one to contribute, I wouldn't mind doing that. Or whatever, I could blow it off and take a nap. Your call.

I certainly would read and be interested in this thread! :D

If that's true - and I'm not sure it is - that would be a shame. People can get as pissed as they want - lack of engagement is a far bigger problem for me.

So they're generally considered eight.
By whom?
Do you have a source?

Yes
ELP
Genesis
Crimson
Van Der Graaf Generator

There are many bands who might lay claim to the 6th position.
Jethro Tull and PInk Floyd - both of whom might have been considered 'prog' for a very short period of their respective careers - among them. Likewise Rush, I guess.
But Caravan and Camel probably have the better credentials.
There are really only four unarguables though.
The first four mentioned above.
The Complete Beatles Mp3 set now available in the usual place, should you want one.

I don't dispute that Van Der Graaf Generator is a classic prog band but I don;t know whether it it in the Big Six.
Jethro Tull, with the broader appeal and bigger discography would take 5th place. Pink Floyd, arguably more progressive than prog is in the popular sense be called a protagonist for many. I can't disagree that purists would call Floyd a trumped up sub-par blues band though.
