That's even worse than Meatloaf. It replaces his humour with female hysterics. I'd regard that as one of the worst UK number ones ever..on a par with 'Lady in Red' and 'I just Called to Say I Loved You'.

Worse than Ken Dodd's Tears, Englebert's Please Release Me, whatever that Rene and Renato shit was called, Joe Dolce's Shaddup Your Face, the entire recorded works of Ed Sheeran and even, gulp, Moo of Kintyre? :o :o  :o :o :?

As bad for sure...and I like Shaddap Your Face!

Those two and Bat Out of Hell is all I will ever need.

I'm totally cool with that.

Oh you have to have Celine Dion's magnificent "it's all coming back to me now" as well.

I'm glad someone that wasn't me brought it up as it's miles better than everything she ever did combined. Sensational.

Of course I love Bat Out Of Hell.

Well you do know what it is like to have minds immeasurably superior to your own drawing their plans against you to be sure.

Always seemed like bad theater performed by a literal over baked ham, possessed by the soul of a terrible James Brown impersonator...

Not at all. I find it an authentic sociological representation of the Italian immigrant experience in Australia. In the conflict between the traditional parental mode of behaviour, inherited through many generations, and the behaviour of the son seeking to escape this tradition, lies a poignant dichotomy that is relevant to the Italian diaspora everywhere.
Plus it stopped 'Vienna' from getting to number one.

Bat Out Of Hell is the album that would have been made by that guy who was the Phantom of the Paradise, had he gotten to realize his vision.

and fair point the last one, as long as I didn't have to listen to either of them

I don't know how the humour will go down here but this Joe Dolce appearance on The Micallef Program is one of my most favourite things ever
