Yes - I like it all, from Squire’s yeti boots to Jon’s pinned eyes. Fantastic drive and pep.

ELP - a nice bit of 70s pop, like Magic Fly or something. The only thing I’ve heard by them, no desire to follow it up.

Genesis - no.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

One of the greatest album openers of all time.

The first album played on my brand new Fidelity sound system. "Yours is no disgrace" running from speaker to speaker....fabulous memories. Genesis....love Gabriel era but "I know..." just a piece of nonsense . ELP a real toe tapper, but they were a spent force by then.

Oh good, 11 minutes of Yes. Said no-one with acceptable personal hygiene standards, ever.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

In order:

ELP - 9/10. It's pomposity is great fun and it has a real driving momentum.

Yes - 3/10. Instrumentally it's just not that interesting, they tend to have one idea and drive it into submission. Lacking in textures, groove and variation.
Genesis - 1/10. I know this is meant to represent the melodic, accessible side of prog Genesis, but I've always found it an extremely dreary melody.

I hope you know that goldfish have been proven to have rather long memo ... ooh, something shiny.

You know what, I've actually made it through all three tracks, and just to top off that shameful behaviour, I've voted for Genesis, as it's the only remotely listenable track. I think I need a stint in rehab.

Can we have a separate "Musty fungal-infected shoebox" board for all this hoary old bobbins?

Oh, poor Genesis. That was my introduction to them.

I loved I Know What I Like, as well as the b-side, Twilight Alehouse.

All are monstrosities that should have been slaughtered at birth. That Yes thing is 11minutes long! Fuck me, there are albums shorter. There is not one redeeming feature in any of them. Risible.

He is absolutely immence and that song sounds as fresh now as it did back in the day.

A masterpiece indeed, on an album full of them.

The Yes track is easily the best of the three.

The Genesis track is fine.

I suppose the ELP one is, too, but it really doesn't do a lot for me. I'd rather hear the original arrangement.
