In truth it's not that great, patchy at best.

In truth, it's a really great album, with a perfect side 1.

It’s cobblers.

Take A Pebble is padded beyond belief, the ludicrous guitar break is cringeworthy.

I adore Take A Pepple, but, you know, each to their own. I was listening to side 2 earlier, and yes, The Three Fates and Tank are a bit pants now, but Lucky Man remains as great as ever. That Moog solo is just immense, both in sound and playing.

The Nice because they were more exciting and their music had a darker edge. Remember the John Williams band Sky? Packed with brilliant musicians, but sterile and boring as fuck? That's how I view ELP.

Which is how I see The Fall. Complete and utter rubbish.

But I don’t have to listen to that, thank goodness, and you don’t have to listen to ELP...everybody wins.

...was this Dave's abstract reply (stereo panning, etc) ?

Trilogy, was my first ELP purchase, bought from the original Virgin Records, in Oxford Street.

Always a favourite with me.

One of the few good things to come out of Works Vol. 1.

I always loved this video.

I also have a lot of love for everything up to, and including, Brain Salad Surgery.

Agreed. And of course the live Welcome Back My Friends... which despite some sound issues is absolutely monumental as far as I'm concerned.
