13 Albums from 1957

Pick your three favorites from this list of popular 1957 long players.

I'd probably go with the first three listed.
Where would rock 'n' roll be without feedback?

I was playing April in Paris yesterday, didn't vote for it though. West Side Story, Sonny Rollins, Little Richard.
turn on, tune in, nod off

Damn, that's a good list.
On the basis of merit, influence, or what I'd most likely be listening to?

Merit: Sinatra, West Side Story, maybe Basie
Influence: Berry, Little Richard, maybe Miles
Accessibility to me when I'm not looking for something special: Elvis (a GREAT album), Vincent, Cash

Though I wouldn't mind listening to any of them, and have owned most.

I don't know any of the albums well enough to comment, but if I voted from my expectations, it'd be Crickets, Miles, then Coltrane.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

That Little Richard record is one of very few basic reference points for me in rock and roll. As in "X is good insofar it aims for the spirit and power of Here's Little Richard but adds x, y, or z." It's really what rock and roll is about for me and why it's good.

Others from the list I pick are Saxophone Colossus, which is most important to me among the jazz ones, and Gene Vincent just because I love a couple of those songs.

Monk, Crickets and Cash. Those are the ones that seem the most like what we'd call albums - the rest are more collections of tracks. But most of these are pretty great.

Monk, Little Richard, Crickets.

But jeez...really every single one of those.

I don’t have most, but I do have the jazz ones, so I voted for Miles, Monk, and Rollins

Richard and Chuck select themselves. Couldn't find a third that I've heard.
