High Flying Birds advert

Postby Pansy Puff » 18 Feb 2018, 22:12

On channel 4 there's just been an advert for Noel Gallagher's new album. During the advert little snapshots from reviews pop along the bottom as you might expect. The very last one says, "A dried up oasis of dross."

Doesn't sound too positive to me! And they chose that for the advert.
“He’s got the memory of an elephant ... and the trophy cabinet of one too.”

If it was in the ad it must be a wink to the critics. He knows as well as everyone else he hasn't got it anymore.

A touch of Stewart Lee in that, he always puts a negative quote alongside the good ones on his posters.

Bit of a confidence play, "we're so confident in our stuff we can even let you see what the naysayers think".
I can just about handle you driving like a pissed up crackhead and treating women like beanbags but I'm gonna say this once and once only Gene, stay out of Camberwick Green!

Stewart Lee often has a few of them, yes you're right. I guess actually it means: "we have loyal fans who'll buy our stuff no matter how good it is..."

With this one it just made me even more sure I wasn't going to get it.
