His daughter in law on Twitter seems to confirm

I quite like a bit of Pearls Before Swine every now and then, it's a shame he flew so low under the radar.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

They were ace. Lots of lovely, low-key songs.

This one fucking kills me every time:

RIP Tom

I'm properly gutted by this - maybe more so than for any musician death since John Fahey's.

And mad at myself. I was going to write to him and tell him how much I loved the recent One Nation Underground reissue (and most of the rest of his work for that matter), and I knew he had cancer, but still I procrastinated (it's what I do). Bastard.

I did have a brief e-mail exchange with him back in 2000, and he was as lovely as any fan could hope. (His interviews were invariably great, too.)

Rest In Peace.

One of those artist I got to know through This Mortal Coil (The Jeweller). Another Time always was my favorite.

It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.
