I would also recommend Beatin' The Odds, although Danny Joe Brown had left temporarily and Jimmy Farrar had taken over on vocals. The title track especially is a real barn-burner.

The live album from the 80's is also stellar and has a cover of Free Bird that is both very respectful and full of vigor.

The Creeper is very Skynyrd-y.

Ronnie Van Zant mentored the band and was supposed to produce this album, but his sad death prevented it.

He did supervise some of their rehearsals, and remarked to the Skynyrd guys that he wished they would play as hard as Molly Hatchet did.

A totally different take on the Allman Brothers' Dreams. If you're going to cover a song, you should either be faithful and reverential or take it somewhere different. This is an excellent cover.
