Yeah I can’t get into it, too much like homework.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

What BCB needs is more Cup competitions! How about an Ambient Cup? A 'Songs about war' Cup? A Bluegrass Cup?

I think there’s a backlash against that this year actually.
To me part of the fun was playing the consensus game to a a degree but also balancing that with your own taste. It was a high wire act but there was satisfaction there, for me at least.
Too many lists are niche, insular and the tracks I do listen rarely rise above “pleasant enough”. The cup has changed over the years, that’s to be expected as we exhaust certain tunes and artists but I feel it’s lost something along the way.

I don't think that's true at all, it's often the more conservative lists that have been going out this year. It's true that lists that spread their net a bit wider have a better chance of doing well, but that's always been the case. One benefit of having a smaller voting base is people are more willing to give something a chance. Seven or eight years ago you had a lot of casual music fans who would just look at a list quickly and vote for what they recognised and reject what they didn't.

Having stepped away from the cup for several years - I’m enjoying returning to it.
If I come out the other end having discovered a handful of great records - I call that a win.

Bugger. Sorry, not going to get around to begrudgingly casting a vote for anyone in the quarters with some passive-aggressive commentary. Half-term, wife's operation, general overly shitty few weeks have meant time hasn't been available.
I can probably manage a semi though...

I included a couple of editions of Hustler with my list if that helps.
