And kinda still use as your frame of reference for the song vs. the original

I was around 13 when April Wine started releasing recordings. It was a long time before I knew they were covers

Hadn't heard much JD when I heard this version.....trying to be as objective as possible but I still prefer NIN

When Bryan Hyland covered Curtis, I hadn't heard the Impressions original

Ten years (no YouTube in those days lads) before I heard the original.

I've been talking about writing a book - 25 years of TEFL - for a few years now. I've got it in me.

Loads of "Nuggets"-type things, from covers by 70's/80's garage revival bands like Chesterfield Kings, The Nomads, The Cramps, etc.

I still think this Chesterfield Kings recording is better than the original by The Choir.

Where would rock 'n' roll be without feedback?

Same for me. I might have heard the original 'Shapes of Things' first.

They played the Bowie version of Friday on My Mind a lot on FM radio. It wasn't until a long time later than I knew the Easybeats did it.

Beatles covers for me

Especially Words Of Love (the sound of the lead guitar does it for me every time) and Twist And Shout.

Lots of Dylan songs as done by The Byrds and Fairport Convention.

Theme One by Van Der Graaf Generator.

Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66 introduced me to a lot of Brazilian composers: Jobim, Jorge Ben, Edu Lobo, Marcos & Paulo Valle, Gilberto Gil...

And, of course:

"Quite."
