Just playing them now.

I'll have to crack out the first 4 EP's shortly, definitely the most juvenile records I own - but somehow so right. Every punk band I played in at school pilfered songs off those singles to get started. Seminal.

This morning we are going against the sage advice of my dad, being a Naval-type and pretty wise at-that, he would often say - Son, never stick your head in a jet engine -I would follow that advice to the best of my abilities, until this came along ....

How immense is this ? Everything on this record is primitive and done to the max, D-Beat in spades, distorted guitar, double-tracked short-sharp-Sabbath-inspired guitar solos, guttural vocals and some decent lyrical sentiment if you talk stokeontrent. It doesn't let up from start to finish, 15 minutes of all-out intensity. I've got an original pressing that seems equally as bombproof as the music and shifts air like a champ.

It gets you right in the sternum. Aint No Feeble Bastard is perfect. Tbh Discharge sound even better today to these ears. Entirely due to the fact of attending so many Hardcore gigs.

Dug out.

My copy is a bot battered. Must get a better one.

UK Decay ‎- Rising From The Dread

This is a lost masterpiece - is it punk, goth or what ? I dunno. But the amount of creativity in this lump of vinyl seems .... wasted. They should have made a second album rather than put this EP out - it all went tits-up soon after and they split. Werewolf is a superb, brooding soundscape. Rising ... and Testament have a sort-of Virgin Prunes vibe about them.

A quick blast of some local legends. Basic, urgent, but still ultimately thrilling.
