Geez, isn't anybody else gonna say welcome back to Carl's Son?
Welcome back, Chris! Stick around for a while this time?

Cheers Toomanyhatz,
I have been listening to the remix now on Spotify and enjoying it, I feel like I have newfound appreciation for Fixing a Hole.
Is the mono mix widely available? I think my cd is the old stereo

I can just about handle you driving like a pissed up crackhead and treating women like beanbags but I'm gonna say this once and once only Gene, stay out of Camberwick Green!

Only as part of the Mono box released in 2009. Probably also on YouTube etc

Indeed. It is entirely inappropriate.
And yet you praise Nick Davis compressed awful Genesis remixes!

The difference is that the original versions of the record were terrible. Foxtrot and Nursery Cryme were near unlistenable on the original vinyl, and if nothing else, the remix does make them clearer and easier on the ear.
I don't think there are many who would say the same of Pepper. The remix is interesting, because it gives the record a more modern sound. But in truth , it didn't add to it at all, and I played it once before returning to my original copy. The Genesis remix is a huge improvement , (despite this compressed thing I don't understand). I will now use these when I want to play either of the two albums I mentioned. I doubt I will ever play the Giles Martin version of Sgt Pepper again.
You don't like me...do you?

And I dont agree! Time after time we get back to our own hearing range.
I would not be so bold to suggest that your ears are not up to the task...that would be rude...
But I dont hear what you describe when talking about these recordings.
In the end what matters is what one is happy with,
but I will never agree on that over compressed music is easier on the ear!

It was also released on the recent box set of 5 CDs that includes the remix.
That day we were listening in the studio to the remix vs original mono, it was two discs out of that big box.
