The new Gary Numan album

Postby Minnie the Minx » 04 Dec 2017, 14:18

Just listening to it now. We are off to see him in a week or two and I have a feeling he will be mainly playing the new stuff.
It's not awful, but it's not Telekon.
Anyone else been listening?

Not yet. I found the last couple hard-going, to be frank (Dead Son Rising and Splinter).

It's been getting decent reviews though so maybe I should give it a go.

Got it playing just now on Spotify. It sounds of a piece with his latter-day work, and I am quite enjoying it.

'Mercy' on right now.

I've been intrigued by some of the reviews I've seen, but I'm worried that it will sound more NIN than Tubeway Army.
Where would rock 'n' roll be without feedback?

That's kind of true of everything he's released since about 2000!

Ya know, he just played San Francisco and I thought of seeing him for a hot second, but I don't know any of his current stuff.

Well, it's not awful, but it's very samey. Every song is the same. No light and shade. He's been on a real mission recently to tell everyone that artists shouldnt have to play their back catalogues. I hope this doesn't mean he won't crank out anything from the 1980s.
