Yeah, that's a fucking amazing song. Love it.

Reading back through this thread and all the generational talk, it really misses the mark for me. Obviously my '80s experience was somewhat different than most people here, but when I hear a Thompson Twins song, I think '80s. When I listen to this:

I think TIMELESS.

It just struck me yesterday how great this is , like it suddenly clicked into focus, staggeringly brilliant.
Heaven and Las Vegas is quickly heading towards my number 1

Yes brilliant - written by Simon Raymonde the day after his father died. One of my favourites too. I was mildly disapointed the times I saw them that they didn't do this one... I think Liz did it at the RFH a few years ago though with an excellent band backing her (including I think her hubby on drums and Thighpaulsandra on keys and arrangements, plus people like Steve Hackett sitting in!)

There's a great cover of this which proves that it's not just Liz's voice or Guthrie's guitar - there is formidable song-craft involved too. Don't know who did it...

Love the guitar at the end. Stellar.

I saw the Cocteaus in North London, probably Cambden, supported by the excellent Dif Juz. Also saw the concert at the RFH in support of her solo album. It was pretty good, she was clearly nervous but not disastrously so. Whatever happened to the solo album?

Canned. Crippled with anxieties.

I saw them live once, in London, supporting somebody who I can't remember

They were very good

My fave is Blue Bell

Followed by Treasure and Victorialand

We’ve got a first new turntable in 20 years (!!!!) and have been looking forward to playing all the EPs that Baron has been getting me from discogs. That’s probably going to be my Sunday!
