Shit or Hit?

Postby Darkness_Fish » 28 Nov 2017, 13:29

Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Hit, definitely. Great tune.

Never really liked it, but 'shit' seems a bit extreme. Abstain.

HIs phrasing is bad.

Not heard it before. Quite liked the music, although I found it all – the arrangement and the tune – rather slight but the vocal was off-putting, with the emphasis in all the wrong places and a distinct lack of tunefulness in his voice, so it sounded like a rap, but didn't have the rhythmic flow to lift it
Here's a sentence I never thought I'd write: Klive nailed it.

It's not exactly shit, but it's a long way from a hit

To be honest, I'd almost entirely forgotten Finley's existence, and was going to post a shit or hit with the options "Maxinquaye" and "Finley Quaye", because I thought I was dead clever n' shit. But that seemed harsh when I sought out this.

The strange tone to his voice, and the 'odd' phrasing is what makes it in my view. But I wouldn't go as far as shit or hit, so I don't really think it's either, either. Cliver.

I don't remember hearing it at the time, but it's got a great riff and a wonderful vibe... the phrasing doesn't put me off at all, on the contrary!

Hit, definitely!

I liked the commercial disaster that was his second album more! He is a total waster by all accounts, mind you.

It features land surveying in the video and there isn't enough land surveying in rock n roll so for that alone it's a hit in my world. And I liked the tune too.

That guitar sound is very mid-90s.
