No one's gonna pimp for the Donna Summer version? The first one I ever heard. Goes on forever too.

Hey, I voted 'awful.'

But clearly, I'm in the minority.

I'm not so sure.

You could start a thread on a fucking Spice Girls' song these days and get 7 out of 10 voting 'great'

Too bad the Velvet Underground never did a version with feedback and a cake being left out by all the Jim-Jims in this town.

But c'mon, Todd. Lou Reed would never write a lyric that Hallmarkish.

What you need to do to appreciate the song is totally divorce the lyric from the music. The music is fine, in a Vegas- type late '60s way. It might have made it on its own without any words. But what words, eh? And sung with such conviction, too.

Please. I could point to dozens of overripe Reed lyrics. Ever hear “My House”?

Meanwhile...as a lyricist, I’d kill to write anything as beautiful as the the second verse of MP.

Yeah, it's on The Blue Mask, right?

Anyway, he's not singing those words the way vocalists have with 'Macarthur Park" either.

No, seriously.

It's not like I'd ever have that recipe again either.

Face it. You never had the recipe to begin with, Matt.

Wasn't MacArthur Park the inspiration for Barry Ryan to write "Eloise"?
