I think it's in my top five vote-getters too. Just shocked it only got three votes. And I am not a fan of Burst Apart, but I do happen to think Familiars (which I voted for) is almost as good.
Hospice is not an easy listen - it's harsh subject matter, and he sings right in your ear about it - but it's visionary and unique, which are the missing ingredient in most new records, even ones I like a great deal.

Well, I thought Milk-Eyed Mender was my best chance at voting for for a top 10 contender. Absolute genius, that album, lyrically and musically so playful and impressive. In my top 5 for the noughties.

I feel guilty for not voting for it now. I voted for Ys.
So you should, I will always look down upon you now with a slight distaste and an air of personal grievance.
I do love Ys, but I think it's the lesser of the two albums, largely because I find the string settings a bit Disney at times, they seem to extraneous, too often. It's a shame, as I like Van Dyke Parks, and he's great to follow on twitter, too. Always voices his opinions, and picks some interesting music out.

Queen of Denmark is a beaut too. The kind of record where the persons charm and humanity shines through.
I saw him last year and he's a delight. Charming, likeable man and you get that on record too.

I'd love to be able to proffer the same sentiment, but I found her last album really disappointing, it seems lifeless compared with the rest of her work. I still regard her as an absolute genius though, I have no doubt that she has it in her to astound me all over again. Which is undoubtedly her aim in life.

FWIW, I see 6 or 7 things left on my list I really expect to see in the top echelons of the list, and another 2 or 3 I'm hopeful about, at least.
The rest I'd be REALLY shocked if even ONE other person voted for, but there've been many surprises already, so I guess you never know...

I love Joanna Newsom unconditionally. I had all of her albums on my longlist.
I need to revisit all of her albums, especially
Ys. I initially wasn’t very much into that album, but I feel it’s something I’d appreciate more nowadays.

Also I noticed that I'd made a small mistake with the numbering of the previous entries, so that everything was listed one place too low. It doesn't affect the overall standings at all and nothing else has snuck in at the bottom, as we still had five albums tied at number 98.

That Shins album was one of the last of my longlisted albums to get cut. The guy's a top songwriter but I don't always like the style.
