It's Eloise of course , a sound bigger than your speakers.

I agree.

Thirded. First song that came to mind even before I saw the choices.

Thought McArthur Park would have been listed as well

Is ‘A Whiter Shade Of Pale’ seen as a bit naff today? I get the feeling it is. It’s terribly uptight somehow. But I love it.

It’s between that and ‘Eloise’, anyway.

It probably should've been.

I love "Kites" but "Eloise" is one of the really glorious singles of that era. The Drums coming back into the verse after the middle eight are just spine tingling.

A moment that never fails to send me skywards too. Just fabulous.

Not sure I'd describe "Kites" as bombastic at all.

WSOP for me.

"Whiter Shade" is not bombastic to my ears. And brilliantly sung, it must be said. Easy winner of this group, though it's a bit of 'which of these things is not like the other.'

Bombastic or not, that’s my choice too. To be fair, it was nearly a coin flip. I’m a sucker for all that “cold hearted orb..” stuff.

I want with "Nights" although I would have gone with "kites" if I had realized that it had no votes.

With the "bombast" premise, it's Eloise, of course.

But Kites is my favourite of the four.

Well the idea was to vote for your favourite.
The bombastic bit, which seems to have irked some, was just to give it a snappy, alliterative thread title.
