It's rubbish, isn't it? I only included it because it's BCB's fave Bunnymen song. Even tho' every other single they put out is superior.

Whatta pair of numbskulls! :) 'The Cutter' is great.

Having listened again to "Treason" surely the main issue here is why the fuck anyone would even begin to suggest it's a superior track to "Reward" (as some did on a recent thread).

I mean, seriously, what the fuck are you lot listening to?
Nicotine, valium, vicadin, marijuana, ecstasy, and alcohol -
Cocaine

I have no clue what it's about or what the lyrics mean, but they're elusive in a good way. Their best single and Porcupine is their best album. I even like the cu-cu-cucumber bits. So there!

Yes! The way the record peaks with Mac's dramatic vocals and those triumphant blasts of horns is incredibly stirring. I don't see how you can't be moved by it, let alone how you'd dismiss it as "rubbish"! Easily one of the best things they did.

What's your fucking obsession with novelty, you absurd flibbertigibbet? Why don't you try contributing to the stuff that's already there? Bump some old threads.

If you want entertainment, try reading what DF and others are writing in the covers cup. Laugh as moddie destroys his final shreds of soul credibility by praising a flute-led prog version of I Put a Spell on You. Hell, you could even join in, disagree. You don't have to vote, or listen to anything - several of those who do vote obviously don't  – but there's currently more life there than in picking over post-punk for the zillionth time.

I wish you'd stop going on about these ridiculous 'Cups'.

I'll stop mentioning them when you stop going on about these ridiculous 'Bands'.

I hate to agree with Moddie but yeah, obviously. With quite a big gap between Treason and Story.

It is.

All Mac's lyrics were total nonsense but who cares?

Treason
Cutter

Story
Never saw the attraction of Wah. Wasn't Wylie a massive Clash fan. It's a shame he didn;t listen more closely.
I've been talking about writing a book - 25 years of TEFL - for a few years now. I've got it in me.

I only like Treason from these. I've never understood the kind of underground hero status Wylie had in NME/Melody Maker land, a minor one-hit wonder seems the right kind of place for him.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

There are a couple of fellas here who go to all his gigs/lick his shoes clean for him. It's weird as all hell.
