The Cutter is as terrible now as it was then. I fell for it too at first but after repeated listenings realized it was a lifeless shell of a song.

It's rubbish, isn't it? I only included it because it's BCB's fave Bunnymen song. Even tho' every other single they put out is superior.

Having listened again to "Treason" surely the main issue here is why the fuck anyone would even begin to suggest it's a superior track to "Reward" (as some did on a recent thread).

I mean, seriously, what the fuck are you lot listening to?

The Cutter is magnificent. It's got one of the best intros of all time and the segue into the brass section is sublime. I have no clue what it's about or what the lyrics mean, but they're elusive in a good way. Their best single and Porcupine is their best album. I even like the cu-cu-cucumber bits. So there!

Yes! The way the record peaks with Mac's dramatic vocals and those triumphant blasts of horns is incredibly stirring. I don't see how you can't be moved by it, let alone how you'd dismiss it as "rubbish"! Easily one of the best things they did.
