Pierre Boulez?

(it's a wild guess, going by Zappa being in there)

I quite like the idea of Boulez playing with the Piltdown Men and arranging the strings on Dirty Water, but it is not he

I mistook the Four Preps for the Fab Four (thought it was some kind of nickname). Then I googled "The Four Preps" to see if this was a good thought. It wasn't. I did it on reflex. Needless to say I saw that that would me bar from competing for this round. I saw the correct answer.

I'll only say it's a devilishly smart question.

Liberace? (I know he had something to do with Ed Cobb, who had something to do with at least a couple of the acts you mention.)

No, although it's an enchanting prospect again to imagine him, candelabraed to the max, playing with the Piltdowns or Standells.

Oh, he was involved musically with them all on one or some of their records. Should have made that clear.

Name the Decca Records (UK) exec who signed The Rolling Stones, The Zombies, The Moody Blues, Them, Tom Jones, and Small Faces to the label - and tell us what he is much better remembered for.

Dick Rowe. Most famous for turning the Beatles down and (allegedly) saying 'guitar groups are out this year'.

It's all I could think of off-hand. Could maybe phrase it differently.

Cheers. It was purely instinctive: a quick memory run over Douglas's great movies led me straight to Iggy's greatest hit.

Q: if Debbie Harry, Robbie Williams, and Frank Sinatra would be in a room, which songwriter would probably get talked about at some point during their merry time together?
