Finally got Nursery Cryme.

I like it. Maybe not as good as the next two, but certainly potential for growth. As with all of these early efforts though, weird mixes to some of the songs. The last one, for instance. Gabriel's vocals seem buried. It should all be louder and everything should sound crystal-clear.

Strange how we perceive things different when listen to records.
I have no problem what so ever with the sound.
Somehow it comes down to which edition you are listening to.

I prefer the Virgin/Charisma CASCD 1052
You need to crank it up, then its full with dynamics and clarity.
Sure enough some people will tell you the opposite...

The def edition rem suffers from noise reduction
Not sure that is the reason you hear what you hear

I saw Genesis for the first time just a few days before this was recorded for the BBC in London.

I remember being awestruck at this one:

Conny O. is probably right about preference. I jumped out of my shoes and socks when I heard that remaster but that's probably because I tend to lean on my favorite tracks - Musical Box & Giant Hogweed primarily. I like the album as a whole ( in fact - more than ever) but I think those two tracks are great, rollicking things and that the remaster gives it an extra punch that I never experienced back in my vinyl days.

Highly recommended if you can find it, is the sumptuous book, I Know What I Like, by Armando Gallo.

Prices vary on eBay, but if you can pick up a good condition one for £20, I’d say go for it.
