Any love?

I noticed they're playing in a few days in London.

I don't really know them

I did see the fella out of them (Richard Strange is it?) in The Black Rider some years ago.

Er...carry on.

I don't know them well either, but they seem like an inspiring take on the darker side of glam decadence. "Inspiring" perhaps because maybe it's not as good (trans: to my taste) as it could be, therefore I can get into it, thinking about how it might be better but slowly falling under its spell. I know I play the record I have more often than I do a lot of "glam" bands I like better (e.g., Roxy Music).

only heard one song, was ok but didn't inspire me to check them any further. Saw Strange do his one man show which was pretty good. International Language was a great single.

I just read up on them and they are from Brixton - and formed at the time I was at school there.
I should feel kinship.
I will investigate further

Strange is an interesting character. Unfortunately, Colin Stoner, their bass player (an extremely underrated one, as it happens) died last year. Hopefully whoever they've got can do a good job as his lines were an important part of the sound.

Again, big feature in the latest issue of Ugly Things (see lower left). I didn't know much about them, but sound pretty cool.

Were they? They didn't quite sell me in the interview. Richard Strange talked mostly about his weird home life (his dad had frontal lobotomy) and which bands he saw in the '60s. It took him a while to talk about his music and I didn't come away with a very clear impression.

They sound like Steve Harley at his most precious ( think "Sebastian") but without his basic songwriting ability.
Not hard to see why they didn't make it!

To me, they sound like Steve Harley if they actually had demons, rather than play acting.

I saw them twice back in the day, once supporting Be Bop Deluxe in the mid 70s. I have the first two albums, but can't recall when they were last played. The best you could say is that they were possibly ahead of their time.
It was raining when we drove up the two-lane highway through the long tunnel of trees that led into the black district on the south end of St. Martinville.

Saw them on a tour they did with the Tyla Gang & Pat Travers.

Didn't warm to any of them on the night & have never investigated further. To my surprise am quite enjoying Afterglow.

That's a pretty eclectic bunch. I guess I can see where they might tangentially intertwine, but that's some bill.

Same record label, I think. All were on or distributed by Polydor.

They certainly seem like a band who would be a lot better on record.
