Anyway... I'm more fuck yeah than any of the other options. I like the grittiness and she's hot!

I voted get fucked, as should be the norm in any modern song that speaks of 'whiskey breath'
You come at the Queen, you best not miss.

Fair point. That guitar solo can fuck off, too.

That said, I voted "Um maybe" though that's generous. I don't think she's a good singer, I don't think they're a good band, it annoyed me to watch them and I won't be seeking out more to hear by them and did I mention the guitar solo? and yet...

... and yet, if this had just come on the radio or in a club or something, it'd probably tickle me. The first couple of times, anyway.

Reminds me of something that Chris Evans would've picked for TFI Friday. She can't sing, and it's fairly generic pub rock.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

It's not very good. Devoid of any soul whatsoever.

I liked the drums and droney guitar riff. The singer simply cannot back up the statement she's making in song.

She's got a good stage presence, but if you're going to proclaim that you have soul as a lead singer in a song with the title, your voice better prove it.

I'm sure she'd be fine singing other stuff. She seems kinda shrieky and shouty though.

Fair point. Is it just a trite and overused phrase in your book?

Question as a songwriter, or writer in general, would another kind of alcohol work in song lyrics?

Or would you just stay away from it. I've always been told for writing that the sense of smell is most evocative to readers (or listeners).
