Allegedly. Can't imagine it's definitive - I can think of a few they've missed - but maybe it's as 'ultimate' as we're able to get for now.
Thoughts? Omissions? Surprises? Do we care?

I couldn't give a flying fuck.
I really don't think an artist's sexuality has any bearing on the music they make. Ok, the lyrics might have a gay slant, but I'm all about the actual music.
Not keen on pigeon-holing, as opposed to glory- holing.

I don't really have an opinion. But I also realize that this list wasn't compiled for me. It might be of great value to a young person trying to reconcile their identity to their talent and ambitions. So I'll assume this exists for them and leave it at that.
On a side note, it really is an exhaustive-looking list. It was particularly nice to see each person given a lovingly-written write-up. This list was clearly put together as a labor of love, and I think it ought to be regarded as such.

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

IIRC there was a gay roots reggae trio in the '70s: Jah Gaylord And His Back Door Peepers.
They folded when dancehall became a craze.
Why? I wouldn't know.
On the whole, I'd rather be in Wallenpaupack.

I get this - sort of (lyrics matter, but that's another discussion) - but I do think music always, to at least some extent, develops as part of a social scene, which sexuality almost always plays a part in. Not telling anyone they have to care personally, just disagreeing that it has no bearing. I think everything about everyone involved with the music has SOME bearing, it's just a matter of degree.

This is pretty much how I feel. The one person on the list that I know reasonably well - my wife is a good friend - seems happy to be included. Or at least amused by it.

Inevitably and indubitably. Of course.
By the way, I'd be interested to know which exclusions anyone notices. I'll start with Mitch Ryder.

Yes. Omissions in terms of genres. If it's not pop music after 1955, it's not included. That's means, for starters, no classical or jazz.
Here's one example:
And to address a matter raised earlier in the thread, I think the matter sometimes does have bearing on the material produced. "Lush Life" seems to be the most obvious choice.
Here are two other examples:

Think it's pretty interesting. Certainly plenty there that I had no idea about. Since they covered so much of the indie territory (where there were several surprises for me) it's a bit strange they missed Savages, who seem to be pretty big flag-bearers for LGBT these days.
With some of these they are really stretching the definition, or at least "outing" people who I don't think would classify themselves as LGBT - like Pete Townshend (might be wrong). Had no idea about Deborah Harry.

not that I needed a list like this..Doesn't make much difference to me...most were obvious or pretty well known (Except for Billy Preston, for me...)..At least the list makers knew who Electrelane and Kitchens of Distinction were ....

Best portrait of Morrissey, ever.
