Re: RIP Sonny Burgess
I look forward to checking out that Spruce clip later; I know the others.
He was a wild-ass, alright. Eighty-six (my so-not-rock-'n'-roll parents' age) isn't a bad innings for a wild-ass. (Poetic, too - he's just been 86'd.)
Sal-LOOT, Mr. Burgess.

Used to wear all-red outfits (he was a redhead, maybe naturally); drove a red Cadillac

Re: RIP Sonny Burgess
Good obit from the Mirror. He died recovering from a fall.
"His band were one of the most exciting to watch live, according to their fans - they would throw themselves around the stage, smash up their instruments and even jump off the stage at the end of their shows without caring how far they had to fall.
"'We had one of the greatest stage shows there was,' Sonny later said.
"'It was like a three-ring circus, people couldn't watch just one of us. We had horn, piano, drums, guitar and bass, since we had to play all kinds of music back then.'"

It was on Hightone; label's defunct. Keep searching the auctions and used bins.
