My f***ing sound

Postby Deebank » 16 Aug 2017, 12:12

I expect a thorough shooting from both sides for this, but this track is massive, epic with a forensic, OCD level of attention to detail.
The very pinnacle of this form? I reckon it's not far off.

A rare form of genius.
I've been talking about writing a book - 25 years of TEFL - for a few years now. I've got it in me.

I actually like some Squarepusher, the frenetic beats and bass can be quite exciting and explosive. But this was too abstract for me, just a random selection of noises, I couldn't really see the point and got bored very quickly.

I think its constant movement and change keep you hooked in.

It reminds me a bit of the soundtrack to that weird (ahem) modernist '50s Tom & Jerry cartoon set in the mad scientist's lab.

You may not like it, fair enough, but you can't deny the skill and sheer attention to detail in Jenkinson's stuff.

And he did more accessible stuff on the same LP. This is great too:

The first one sounds like somebody dicking about on one of those Wasp Synthesisers from the late 1970s

A fine - if somewhat flimsy - instrument!

Although I think you'll find most of the track is drums (and digital manipulation).
