Tricky. I'm probably dead in the middle, right on the fence. I can't hate it, there's something there but it's no great shakes as a song - and you've got all the bad 80s stuff going on too.

I'll vote YAY! 'cos I imagine there'll be quite a few haters along later and I don't want ol' Rodders to get buried...

There's something slightly trying-too-hard about it.

I don't like it much, never have. I find it harder to say why though, it would be a cop out to just blame it on the production as 'Young Turks' has an identical sound and I don't mind that one at all. I just don't like the tune much and I don't think his voice was that well suited to this kind of material.

It is a decent song, but not much more. Young turks is ace.

Yay. if only for the opening melody ("baby jane, don't leave me haaanging on...") which is rather good.

sure there are 80s crimes going on but it's alright, you know? On a good/bad day I might say it's "quite good"

Nay - It's around this period where the last gasps of anything of any worth is recorded by the man though, mainly Young Turks and Tonight I'm Yours.

I like the song. Hate the record.

P.S. I'm hereby reserving "Davey's Bad or Rad" as my copycat thread title series.

After around 30 odd years of understandably considering it to be pile of poo, I unaccountably developed a soft spot for it a year or so ago. I'm wanting to call that a mid life crisis in record form but unfortunately I think it's leading me to go 'hit'.

Or, indeed, 'yay'.

Yay. Not his best by any means, but a catchy pop song nevertheless. The video, however, is cringeworthy.

It's pretty fucking awful. That occasional synth line is really weedy, the rhythm is a limp swinging hand-clap which reminds me of Cliff. The vocal melody is ok, and he delivers it with gusto. It's just hamstrung by everything underneath.

Yay to Rod. He's been good, and he doesn't owe me anything more. Nay to that one because it's not interesting and he has a billion dollars and obviously is completely confused.

There's nothing very redeemable about this one.

It continues to shock me every time this happens, but I think once again my answer is "exactly what D_Fish says."

If anything I feel like it's made worse by the fact that it's a lack of taste rather than ability. It's a conscious decision to go "lowest common denominator." It's not like he's lost his faculty to discern or anything. He wants the bucks.

NAY.

Way too synthy. Even his vocal performance is poor. Pretty retched, I say.
