The La's song versus the VU song. I think both are okay, but don't love either.

Really dislike the La's in general. Probably their best (only?) song, but even a relatively lightweight VU song blows it away

I've loved the Velvets longer despite or because of the lyric - I'm not sure.
the La's tune is great though. I really enjoyed that little piece of the 90's where every trailer for every goddam movie had that song in it.

I almost voted "like/love both equally" but when I thought about it for three seconds I realized that just wasn't so. The La's song is terrific and I'm always happy to hear it whenever I happen to hear it, but my life wouldn't really be any the poorer if I never heard it again. Which I can't say for the Velvets song.

Love 'em both. The La's record is brillo head to toe (fuckin' Lookin' Glass man!) and I got to the Velvets via this cover

Velvets by a million miles. The La's track's a bit crap. I mean it's OK but it wore thin after ten listens.
