I would say that I can enjoy Floodland, but it's nowhere near their peak. As for Vision Thing, I'd say it's easily in the worst 50 albums I've ever bought, and that's not just considering the disappointment of a once-great band releasing something that bad. It's a complete embarrassment, inept, bland, banal, fucking awful.

That's me told

I've read somewhere that these sets use the latest remasters available.

Probably will get the Mahavishnu set at some point.

Some of them do, some don't. Amazon reviews are helpful in this regard.

I have the Soft Machine one, too.

I have it. Bonus tracks on some albums, which is good; but it's lacking the two soundtrack albums, which contain some pretty essential (to me( material -- You're a Big Boy Now and Darlin' Be Home Soon, for two. So an additional purchase of the Greatest Hits CD duplicates a lot on the set, but also fills in some of the blanks.

I already have a solid Lovin' Spoonful compilation. On Rhino, I believe.

I haven't got any - basically because I have most of the album anyway - well, certainly the ones I want.

However, I would add the Jean-Luc Ponty box which is superb

Just remembered I also have Dr.John. Nice selection if you feel like entering his world. The three must-have albums (Gris-gris, Gumbo and In The Right Place) plus two weird but interesting ones (Babylon and The Sun, Moon & Herbs)

I have the sets for Echo & the Bunnymen and Dr. John, am very happy with both acquisitions. I'd like to get the first Aretha Franklin one at some point.

Is the 10,000 Maniacs one worthwhile?
On the whole, I'd rather be in Wallenpaupack.

I've got 3 of the Original Masters series:

Emmylou Harris, Vol 2
Jimmy Webb
Terry Reid

They are a great way to get certain albums but I really don't like the lack of notes and neatly always unreadable mini-sleeves. If that's not a problem, they're well worth it.

Does the 'Blank Generation' disc on there have the original album version of "Down at the Rock 'n Roll Club," or is it the alternate version they put on the 1990 cd reissue?
