Have no albums by any of these soulsters, so I can't comment.
On the whole, I'd rather be in Wallenpaupack.

Michael Oldfield - a talent - Tub Bells - was mind-blowing at the time - still is. Ommadawn and Hergest Ridge equally as good

The Sisters of Mercy at their peak are in a completely different league to that lot, one of the greatest bands ever for a brief stint from 82 to 85-ish. But probably worse than all of them right now.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Elton John...Album/Tumbleweed Connection. Single/ Rocket Man.
Mike Oldfield...Side 1 of Tubular Bells could not be topped.
Weather Report...I love fusion, but I've only ever owned Heavy Weather, and Domino Theory, which are both excellent.
Mekons: Where was I? Not a punk, but that was a great song.
Joan Armatrading...I like Love & Affection and Drop The Pilot best.
White Denim...pretty good, actually.

The others I don't really have an opinion on.

Elton John - Great for most of the '70s
Michael Oldfield - No opinion, really - though I've got the big two LPs of his.
Weather Report - Decent, though I'm never in the mood.
Cocksparrer - Yeah, right...
Mekons - Some good stuff in the '70s/'80s. Even into the early '90s come to think of it.
Divinyls - Barely remember them.
Willie Nelson - Awesome songwriter.
Pussy Galore - They had their fifteen minutes.
Sisters of Mercy - Barely remember them.
Nina Hagen - Know nothing about her.
Kim Carnes - Really?
Joan Armatrading - Never got into her.
INXS - They also had their fifteen. I guess I like at least one of their albums as well.
Foghat - Some good songs.
White Denim - Who?

I heard them for the first time a couple days ago on an episode of "Austin City Limits." Pretty amazing musicians, but I didn't like it when the singer opened his mouth.

Elton John - great in the early '70s. Omnipresent on AM and FM radio. One of those artists that was both good and popular. Stopped listening after Philadelphia Freedom.

Michael Oldfield - All I know is he did the Excorsist soundtrack.

Weather Report - Do not like jazz

Cocksparrer - this is made-up, right?

Mekons - Good post-punk. A fan, but not a huge fan.

Divinyls - A couple good albums

Willie Nelson - I like him as a songwrtier more than an artist, but usually enjoy him when I put his albums on or hear him. I have to be in the mood.

Pussy Galore - Don't know that much about

Sisters of Mercy - I have a couple albums. Good for goth, but I wasn't a huge goth guy.

Nina Hagen - Interesting, but not interesting enough to buy any of her albums.

Kim Carnes - Probably haven't given her enough of a chance. Not crazy about her voice.

Joan Armatrading - Have a few of her albums. I like her because she definitely went her own way.

INXS - Fake funk without the chops to carry it off.

Foghat - A staple of my teenage years. Two really good albums and two good albums.

White Denim - Critical darling from Austin, TX, from a few years back. I've never really taken the time, but they're not bad when I've listened to them.

None owe me money as far as I know.
Don't fake the funk on a nasty dunk!

Elton John - Diva that he may be now, and for all the bad music he's released in his life, he stored up a lot of good will with me between 1970 and 1975.
Michael Oldfield - To me he's Kevin Ayers' sideman, but I do like some of what he's done solo. Just seems so all or nothing, and I've heard nothing outside of a few nice passages to encourage me to dig deeply.
Weather Report - Great players who don't do much with it that insterests me. There's probably some exceptions to that, but I couldn't tell you what they are offhand.
Cocksparrer - No opinion
Mekons - I like 'em when their songs have melodies, which they usually don't. Their use of folk tunes helps, so I like the period (late 80s) when they were doing that a lot.
Divinyls - The disposable/forgettable side of the 80s rather than the one I hate. Faint praise.
Willie Nelson - Love him unconditionally. A great American artist. Should leave reggae alone, however.
Pussy Galore - Don't think I've heard a note of their music, but tend to appreciate artists who risk themselves in the fight for freedom of expression. It shouldn't be that hard, but it is.
Sisters of Mercy - An ex-girlfriend of mine loved them. Not my kind of thing, but they do it well.
Nina Hagen - You need to do something more than 'quirky' to get my attention, and as far as I know she hasn't.
Kim Carnes - I get her mixed up with Jennifer Warnes, She's the female Rod Stewart, right? Only without the rootsy background (for the bad) or the pompous assholishness (to the good). I like "Bette Davis Eyes" in small doses.
Joan Armatrading - Who's she a-tradin' arms with? I have a record of hers somewhere. Someone else in the long list of people that have neither done anything to piss me off or anything to encourage me to explore further.
INXS - The poor guy. Musically, they're of their time. If you were a musical artist in the 80s and you went along, chances are I have no interest in what you did. They obviously had talent, but went along.
Foghat - They 'rock' apparently. That's important to some people, I guess.
White Denim - No opinion.

Elton John- I like Elton but never been a real fan. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and most of Madman Across the Water was his only excellent albums- had some other good songs - hate the broadway stuff.
Michael Oldfield - love the 70's stuff been okay since
Weather Report- Love the 70's albums (yes all of them) -always a changing lineup but the Jaco years were killer. Saw them front row in 78 Jaco floored me. I've never seen a bass player since with his talent and wildness. Barefeet, jumping off speakers, playing hendrix style (behind the back and with teeth) and just nailing any song he played. Shorter and Zawinul are both killers at their instrument too.
Cocksparrer - WHo? Oh see obscure punk UK band. Not my style or taste I'm sure.
Mekons - okay not a fan
Divinyls - love two songs rest okay.
Willie Nelson - love WIllie.
Pussy Galore - not really
Sisters of Mercy - okay
Nina Hagen - pretty good
Kim Carnes - never been a fan
Joan Armatrading - like her early stuff never heard anything else
INXS - fan of the 80's stuff dont know the 90's stuff
Foghat -yuk
White Denim - okay new band
