bobzilla77 wrote:Elton John - first rate 70s radio pop
Michael Oldfield - skilled arranger [and musician for the first 4-5 albums]
Weather Report - lotta notes
Cocksparrer - Oi!
Mekons - I like the idea of a punk single called "Never Been In A Riot"
Divinyls - had their moments
Willie Nelson - a benevolent presence
Pussy Galore - not [often] but sometimes
Sisters of Mercy - someone played the album with "This Corrosion" on it and said they were a "parody" of goth like the Dukes of Stratosphear. I liked it on that basis.
Nina Hagen - never got into her [except for the big hit].
Kim Carnes - only know the hit which is [ok]
Joan Armatrading - need more study but I generally [haven't liked much of] what I've heard
INXS - first rate 80s radio pop
Foghat - harmless boogie without the woogie
White Denim - stains easily

bobz pretty much summed up what i'm thinking here, with a few personal parentheses.

Elton John - highly overrated, only 70-76 period was alright
Michael Oldfield - Tubular Bells and Ommadawn are OK but shame on him for releasing Tubular Bells II with an almost exact cover
Weather Report - ???
Cocksparrer - ???
Mekons - ???
Divinyls - Even their big hit is forgettable
Willie Nelson - love his music, hate his voice
Pussy Galore - never heard their music
Sisters of Mercy - ???
Nina Hagen - ???
Kim Carnes - Rod Stewart in drag
Joan Armatrading - haven't heard enough
INXS - ewww
Foghat - Love some of their stuff but can't stand Slow Ride, the only song of their's they play on Classic rock media
White Denim - ???

I still like the Kinks

I heard them for the first time a couple days ago on an episode of "Austin City Limits." Pretty amazing musicians, but I didn't like it when the singer opened his mouth.

Hm, thanks. A Bert Jansch then (that how I feel about his music). Will check out on youtube.
