It's a shit hit.
No, actually, I like it in small doses, which I'm usually able to manage. So HIT, baby!

Re: John Coan's SHIT OR HIT
Take out the " 's " and the title would be "John Coan, Shit or Hit."
Not THAT would be a thread!

Not the sort of thing that I would have intentionally listened to at the time, but now it kind of sounds like a classic of the era/genre.
Where would rock 'n' roll be without feedback?

This. It is a classic, for a reason.

Re: John Coan's SHIT OR HIT
Is there anything more "eighties?" There's one for the time capsule. I like it too much, purely as a matter of nostalgia, to call it shit. I was young enough not to hate it. But it really is little. Ore than processed cheese.

Imagine how much better it would be played with a B-3 and a bank of horns instead of that creepy synth.
Question authority.

Re: John Coan's SHIT OR HIT
It's almost a pity it has that main synth melody, as the background clicks are quite interesting, and it's not bad as the tune develops. It's hard to judge, since it's now essentially a Rubik's Cube wearing deely boppers and leg-warmers.
I guess it sounds like a Cabaret Voltaire cast-off. Which is ok. I'll go for hit.

Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

I'll say this for the eighties, at least people made music that aimed to sound distinctively of its time. Love it or loath it.
I've been talking about writing a book - 25 years of TEFL - for a few years now. I've got it in me.

Had this been a year or so earlier, it would have been some cool New York underground electro thing (think Mantronix or Whodini). I like it, but, like bunjee jumping, it's best experienced as a very occasional pleasure.
