They were spectacular in Bristol last week, best gig I've been to in ages. :D

Even their Dads song was good. Sickening amount of talent for one family - not jealous

About time that someone combined the self-doubt and restraint of Rufus Wainwright with the baroque good taste of Freddy Mercury, but "Indie".

Well done lads, well done.

They're coming to Fuji this summer. Thanks for the positive words. Looking forward to all that standing and sweating in that biblically sized mob a bit more.

It is a mish mosh of 60's styles, and good for them, but going back and listening to the original stuff makes me a little sad wondering why music that good should have ever gone out of style.

To me they're more 70's - Big Star, Queen, Peter Frampton. But its like they took all those influences, chopped them up and taped them back together. One of the only "straight through" songs they played was their Dads one, I think its called Sorry, the rest are these great schizoid masterpieces that you can't dance to because there's too many changes! :D Enjoy the Fuji show

I thought I would like this album when I finally got around to hearing it. I do not. I really, really do not.

Yeah, great song. He's some singer, that guy, isn't he? They don't look old enough to be that good. And the drummer is everything a drummer should be.

Note that the drummer and guitar player switch halfway through. Turns out the drummer is what a guitarist should be too!

I find the two compliment each other. I end up playing with time on guitar in a way I do on the drums for example. It's interesting for sure.

Live at Glastonbury on iPlayer at the mo.

They're ok.

I almost missed this. A new EP, apparently.

There's still nothing original about them, but I really like it. :P

It sounds MORE original to me. Truly quirky songwriting. Having bits reminiscent of McDonald & Giles and Nilsson while never actually copying them doesn't make them unoriginal. (The production may sway it more toward pastiche. I hope not.) I think they're on the right track.

Yeah, true. After listening to it a second time, I was struck by the melodic quirkiness and the sheer number of chord changes... and them always landing on their feet.

Apparently, the EP contains 6 outtakes from the Do Hollywood sessions -

... and two new tracks were released in March.

In its press release, 4AD wrote:Following 2016’s startling debut album Do Hollywood, and last year’s follow-up EP Brothers of Destruction, The Lemon Twigs have shared two new standalone singles ‘Foolin’ Around’ and ‘Tailor Made’.

Written by Brian and Michael D’Addario, the prolific brothers from Hicksville, Long Island, recorded the songs in their home studio early this year. “Here are two rockers that we worked up 5 or 6 months ago,” they say. “We had the urge to make some plain Rock and Roll. We thought we’d made some, but what’s plain about Rock and Roll?”

I love retro kind of music - power pop, neo-soul, etc. I don't care if something is derivative as long as it's semi-interesting and it adds a new twist. I've tried to kinda like these guys, but I don't find them very interesting or appealing at all. I tried listening to the song Quaco mentioned as interesting, but I thought it was kinda boring.

Just like looking at them sent me into a blind rage and reading about them had me wishing a slow and painful death for them, but I’ve never been accused of being too bright and against my better judgment, I played the videos.

I’m as shocked as you are, they were terrible.

Old Skull sold out :(

I think that’s what puts me off ‘em, the suspicion that it’s not all their own choices, the hand of a pushy parent or worse...rock school.

Nice reference.

Not a big fan of them personally, but I will say it's a bit insulting to make the "School of Rock" reference considering they're now about the same age at which Dylan was making Highway 61.
