Good man. We already have enough for a proper album-length disc, but about half of it is by Mike Boom or me. Soooooo...we need a greater variety of folks, and it doesn't matter how crude or lo-fi your work is, send it on in. I'd like to wrap this up by the beginning of August, so get to it Bowiacs!

Finally, "Panic In Detroit" is finished. It was a much bigger pain-in-the-butt than the other two I did. I actually did a couple of aborted versions before I finally hit on a beat that I could live with. Anyhow it ended up being pretty rockin. It's in the Dropbox, or you can (temporarily) check it out at https://soundcloud.com/jetwelder/panic- ... owie-cover

Thanks Min. But I have to admit that my "high Bowie" voice isn't nearly as good as my "low Bowie"* voice. And the middle eight part was a total bastard to figure out and I blame Ronson! I aborted the second version because my pathetic attempt at the middle part was so wretched that there was no way to save the recording.

I thought it was gonna be the easiest of the three songs I did. Couldn't have been more wrong. That'll learn me, durn me.

You sounded great. I had to sing in a VERY uncomfortable range for me for S&V but in the end, I liked the way it sounded.

Allright! Min and Quaco's "Sound And Vision" is here. Another really excellent sounding track... great vocals from Min with the cool nonchalance of a postpunk vet. Great drum sound too. And, yes, her guitar works out real well, thank you!

can we present the whole thing anywhere online so people can download it? bandcamp, soundcloud? or is it a rights-problem?

Yay! Thanks Feeb. I must add: Quaco did All the hard work on this including guitar. I did a good dance while I was laying down my vocals though, which surely counts for a huge amount.

Your vocals are great. And I love that we got two sets of "doo-doo"s in there, something I always wished happened in the original. Might be the best part of a great, great song. Note: The trippy backward acoustic bits that show up here and there are Minnie!

I figure that we will have it online in a couple of different places.

I've noticed that Bandcamp doesn't seem to "go after" people doing covers unless you are being paid for your downloads. If you do them as free downloads, they don't seem to care at all. So that's one possibility. Soundcloud is a little more vigilant about this (especially now that they're trying to position themselves as viable competition to Apple Music, Spotify etc.), but we could probably get away with streaming it there with no downloads. We'll probably also do a Sendspace with the Zip files, and I will also set up a dropbox thingie with the whole album.

Also, I don't do Spotify, but maybe someone could also upload it there as a streaming playlist.

And of course, if anyone wants a good ol fashioned CD, PM me and I'll burn it off.

Re: BCBowie Project - Please Deliver Your Quality Products Now!

Postby king feeb » 07 Sep 2016, 09:30

Okay folks, I've been tweaking away at this and now we have a pretty decent master for this. I'm going to listen to it on a bunch of different players for a couple of days, and then I'm going to process it and host it, hopefully by the end of the week. I'm hoping to have it available as AIFF, WAV or high-quality Mp3 and/or M4a files.

I didn't do much work on most of the files. Some needed slight volume adjustment, but the quality of the tracks is much higher than any previous BCB project. Only a handful of tracks needed any post-production work (and three of those were mine  ).

I will be doing a hardcopy, old-fashioned CD version for all contributors (and any other interested parties that PM me their address).

NOTE WELL---> if you haven't finished your track(s) and you can bang something out by the weekend and get it to me, yer on the team. Other than that, I think we can declare this case closed. Track list (and inevitable discussion thereof) to follow soon.
