I always thought this song was nicely lodged inbetween Mouse Police and No Lullaby. Just like a Clydesdale standing firmly in the English mud- solid and unmoveable. It still sits cool out of context of the album.

NB- John Glascock- what a bassist! RIP.

Maarts selects the next track and is a bone fide Tullhead also

When I am on the treadmill at home this is the first track on my iPod [tracks listed alphabetically] - the first 15 minutes working out is often repeats of this great track.

It is from one of the folk-trilogy albums, (as all Tullheads know), and this is a superb track from possibly the best of the 3 albums

I just love Darryl Way's violin - it is such a happy song.

Replete with delightful mandolin from Ian (although Peggy would have been even better!)

As our dear friend kath would say

That Blake's 7/Catweazle crossover episode was really a thing eh?

I'm going to have to agree with this.

With the exception of War Child, I love everything up to Minstrel In The Gallery, but this folk era wasn't for me.

Heavy Horses for courses Richard

Yes, heavy horses for courses.

Of course, I love them all and I consider Heavy Horses a great album.

War Child is an interesting choice - it's an album that splits the punters - even the Tullheads.

It's interesting regarding the violin - Ian Anderson played some violin on earlier albums - Thick as a Brick and A Passion Play but clearly considered buying somebody in to do the bits, on this album, which were beyond his capabilities.

Of course, he drew on the skills of Eddie Jobson to do the job on A.

I love the track - playing it again now - as Maarts states the late John 'Brittledick' Glascock was a fine bassist.

Their best?

Well, their best.....?

You've got to bear in mind that I'm not that much of folkie, so that doesn't help.

I just don't like the sax on War Child, which is strange because I didn't have a problem with Pink Floyd using it.

I'll have to give it another try.

As for their best, I'd be torn between Stand Up, Aqualung and Thick As A Brick.

A three way tie for me.

Minstrel In The Gallery, is definitely Top 5, for me.

It's difficult to separate out 5 for me but off the top of my head

Thick as a Brick
A Passion Play
Stand Up
War Child
Aqualung
