Found unconscious at home

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed that paramedics responded to an emergency 911 call on Mitchell’s street in Bel Air at about 2:30 on Tuesday, but was unable to confirm her condition.

Her rep could not be reached for comment.

“She is currently in intensive care undergoing tests and is awake and in good spirits. More updates to come as we hear them. Light a candle and sing a song, let’s all send good wishes her way.”

Well she is 71 and unlike so many other so-called celebs of her age, she's obviously not gone down the dodgy plastic surgery route which she could easily have afforded to do

Hi Fueryhk -

cheers for your comment. I was pondering a brief comment on Joe's post, but didn't really find the right words. You did.

I think our perception of famous people may distort our views, impressions of age in general to a certain extent. If the photo depicted an aunt of ours, someone we'd known for long decades, we'd probably not look up for a second. But since it's Joni, and we know her portraits so well, with a strong emphasis on the younger Joni, we wonder about the wrinkles, the skin. Moreover, many of her contemporaries indeed paid lots of money to come across a lot younger. Which again has a 'corrupting' effect of how we see Joni, we see something that is natural as being a bit out of line.

I think it is good to stay aware of such a state of things; and your post helps.
On the whole, I'd rather be in Wallenpaupack.

She looks magnificent for 71. GWS Joni. I have the telephone answering machine song going around in my head at the moment. I hope that is not a portent.

Is she a folk singer? What short description would you use to describe her? The Independent comments underneath their hospitalisation article are preoccupied with this issue, rather than concern about her prospects. I think they are right though as you wouldn't call any of her male contemporaries simply folk singers.

She would probably say "a Painter", I would say the greatest female songwriter ever.

FWIW... I've quit smoking over 10 years ago, won't ever start again and don't find it remotely cool or sexy nowadays, but I really like the pic you've posted, Joe!

I don't think for a minute that Joe was trying to be snarky or pass comment on her appearance and don't understand why his comment seems to have provoked that reaction. It seemed affectionate to me, if anything.

I can't stand her voice or music . However , I would not wish her any ill , I know many of you love her output . Joni is a musician who has touched many people and I respect her for that. I hope she pulls through , because there are very few artists such as her . They are all getting older and every year another icon leaves us ( I fear for the day bobby goes ). When the body gives up the music gives us more , get well joni fucking mitchell .

I too dread this day.

At least it will finish the Zep reunion rumours once and for all, I guess.

Reportedly Unconscious in Hospital: 'It's Very Serious'

Postby der nister » 29 Apr 2015, 00:32

Joni Mitchell is reportedly unconscious in a hospital and incapable of responding to anyone, according to TMZ.

This news arrives nearly a month after the legendary singer-songwriter was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital. At the time, her website informed concerned fans that "Joni is currently in intensive care in an L.A. area hospital but is awake and in good spirits." The last official update on her site, dated April 3, reads, "Joni remains under observation in the hospital and is resting comfortably. We are encouraged by her progress and she continues to improve and get stronger each day."

That prognosis has seemingly changed, with Mitchell reportedly in a coma, according to TMZ.

Joni Mitchell is unconscious in a hospital, unable to respond to anyone, with no immediate prospects for getting better.

Joni's close friend of 44 years, Leslie Morris, has just filed legal docs to obtain a conservatorship over the legendary singer. Morris says Joni told her she has no close relatives who could assume the role.

TMZ broke the story, Joni was rushed to the hospital on March 31st, after being found unconscious at her L.A. home. She was taken to UCLA Medical Center, where she remains.

Information fifteen minutes ago on her Official Facebook page contradicts the above.
