His post on the Physical Graffiti remaster was what did it for me.

It was his mighty physical presence which swayed me.

The promptness of his Saturday First Overnight® delivery was also very very impressive.

Judas Priest's Rob Halford had a great interview during the early 80s about how Duran and a few others could be considered sh"t bands, but that they had talismanic value in possibly turning some fans into lifelong music fans that might search out other music. And yes, he was very aware that Priest were possibly doing the same.
It's kinda depressing for a music forum to be proud of not knowing musicians.

Si Le Bon lived in Pinner, not far from where my wife grew up.
She has always been a first rate celeb stalker and back in the day she called round the Le Bon residence.

The perfect gent, Si invited her in - his parents were home - and she cooked him a shepherd's pie (which is more than she's ever done for me, poor sod, it must have been hellish :( ). She got Si to ring her mum to explain where she was.

Anyway, very nice man apparently.

Needless to say I thought Duran Duran were shite :)

... except, I had a grudging respect for their song craft and their use of the arpeggiator on the Roland Jupiter 4.

I've been talking about writing a book - 25 years of TEFL - for a few years now. I've got it in me.

I wouldn't go so far as call it a great track but it is better than I thought I would hear. Still not my cup of tea.
Oh boy is it getting rough, when my old world charm isn't quite enough.
