Oh I'm a big fan of sunshine pop. I love highly arranged, melodic music with a hint of strangeness and The Association do that better than anyone. I probably posted a lot more about that side of my tastes a few years ago though. I'm no expert on their catalogue, but I felt they should be represented.
The Associates are not of those acts from the eighties that have stayed with me (most haven't). I think they made really unique records. BCB still needs to assess the eighties properly, it's a decade the board has struggled with traditionally, with the result that often bands like The Associates are often overlooked.
