Pickings were slim in the store I went to first and then I ran out of time at the second store which has no filing system at all with over 1,000 records. I was only able to grab one so far and it was neither that were at the top of my list (Star Sailor and Greetings From L.A. ). I was able to find a clean original of Blue Afternoon. I'm going back to that place this weekend as I know there are a few more Tim Buckley albums there. I just have to find them!

Edit:I forgot to edit that album title that I knew was wrong but wanted to finish my thought.....

I've had a chance to listen to Blue Afternoon a few times now and I like it. What I like the most is the music/vibe and the way it doesn't speak specifically to a particular genre but encompasses many instead. I read a lot of things about his voice and it seems it goes from greatest vocalist in pop music,as someone on the Hoffman board is trying to assert, or they say his voice isn't very good at all. Me, I'm in the middle though upper middle to be more specific. I respect what he's trying to do with his music and he is using his voice in the same way one would use any other instrument and I think for the most part he succeeds. The musicians certainly seem to be on the same page as Tim. I saw a doc. on Tim and I seem to recall that he had at least one constant musical partner on most of his albums, correct?

I wonder what he would have sounded like if he'd worked with Sandy Bull. It would have been cool to see both of them.

Yeah, the guitarist Lee Underwood.

It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

Oh!

I'm assuming these are the supposed "Yester Tapes" that a friend of mine told me about. Allegedly Yester had a place in Laurel Canyon with a home studio in which he recorded acoustic demos of all his friends - not just Buckley but also John Sebastian, Stephen Stills, and others. Unfortunately I found out about this AFTER my recent interview of Yester, or I could have asked him about it. I will pump my friend for more information about this when I see him next. I think he might be working with Yester on releasing some of them.

. Got Jimi's autograph after the show and went on to see him several times that year

Wow, I'd love to hear more of those. It's been years since the Rhino reissue of his first LP, hopefully LITA will go further.

Just picked up Happy Sad out of curiosity from a thrift store for $1.

Put it on, and my wife made me take it off before I could take a proper disliking to it.

Great documentary on youtube. Particularly interesting to hear from guys like Larry Beckett and Lee Underwood. You see these names on the backs of record sleeves for years and it's good to find out who they are.

And four other parts.

There are two more Buckley live albums out this year. Both are good and worth having.

Probably my fave TB album, that. It’s got the tunes and not too much of the ‘seal on fire’ lark you got with his later stuff.

Well I'll give it another chance when she's not around. I don't think it's my kind of thing, but maybe I could like it.
