A simple brief - put together a playlist of songs that would fit onto a single CD (you can go for a double if you have the energy), that best represent the most essential or best songs of the Harvest label. Does that mean sales success, musical vision, or a combination of both? You decide, and feel free to explain why.

Nice one, pig - a couple of my own personal faves there but a couple I need to track down now obviously (Quatermass, Bakerloo, Babe Ruth).

I'll have a go:
1. Deep Purple - Chasing Shadows
2. Tea and Symphony - Armchair Theatre
3. Michael Chapman - Rainmaker
4. Syd Barrett - Baby Lemonade
5. Pink Floyd - One of These Days
6. Barclay James Harvest - Taking Some Time On
7. Quatermass - Black Sheep of the Family
8. Pretty Things - Walking Through My Dreams
9. ELO - 10538 Overture
10. Roy Harper - When an Old Crickiter Leaves The Crease
11. Kevin Ayers - Stranger in Blue Suede Shoes
12. Trumvirate - Schooldays
13. Roy Wood - Dear Elaine
14. Kayak - See See The Sun
15 Third Ear Band - Druid One
16. Be Bop Deluxe - Jet Silver and the Dolls of Venus
17. David Gilmour - There's No Way Out of Here
18. Wire - Three Girl Rhumba
No real sense to the order just listed as I thought of them. About 78 mins.

Good choices there, Ray. 'Jet Silver...' is a stellar B-BD pick.
Interesting choice. A personal fave? I'd probably be boring and pick 'See My baby Jive', but i still think it represents best what Wood did really well.

not done a list...but harvest had some terrific bands on the books....one of the few labels you could "buy blind" and be pretty sure your hard earned 39 and 6 was well spent.

Bump
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.
