I didn't realise, not being a big fan, that she'd not played live since 1979!

She has done a handful of performances at charity gigs and on TV since that tour, but these will be her first full live shows since 1979. Apparently, she just hated touring so much, which is probably why she's only playing a London residency. I suspect she's running slightly low on funds, and realised there's serious money to be made from live performances.

I doubt she's short of money. If that was really the case she could easily reissue her back-catalogue, which has never been remastered, or release a new Greatest Hits and they would both sell loads and top up funds. I'm pretty sure she's doing this because she wants to.

I so want to go but it would have to be a special trip to London to see it. How to get the missus to agree to that????

From what I've been reading about her and in the very sparse interviews with Kate she has been incredibly withdrawn and very loathe to get away from her home. Incredibly enough, Aerial, with songs about washing machines is what her world really was about - a little microcosm of life specially drawn and inhabited by her. Live experiences were a horror for her. For this to happen just absolutely stuns me but then again, even if she was caught in an almost autistic mood, there are ways to break out of it...I so hope that happened.

I heard as her backing band... Quite appropriate, given Andy Partridge's similar fondness for hiding away from the world.

Apparently tickets are priced between £49-£135, plus booking fees. On sale 9am, 28th March.

They'll go in seconds, won't they?

If I had the money I would probably be quite happy living mostly like that. I like Scott Walker's approach too, just living quietly as he pleases, and doing exactly what he wants to with his music.
