Re: Tony McManus - New Tour dates and album
He does a bit where he imagines what Stairway to Heaven would've sounded like if Jimmy Page was Scottish, thus Strathspey to Heaven is born, with a quick demo. He then plays it from countries around the world, Balkans, Greece , Italy....

In other news it turns out that he knows Prince's guitar player Linda (Donna actually) both from being from Toronto and being a PRS artist.
Hope it goes ok for his purpleness as the last female PRS artist involved with a global star was Orlanthi who was in Jacko's band for the gigs at the O2.

Here's hoping Nick Cave needs a new guitarist.

A few wrong facts, he didn't start at 17, and he left school to go to University not to become a musician.

Re: Tony McManus - Back Home third time this year
from Hands Up for Trad
One of Paisley's greatest cultural ambassadors is set to make a long-overdue return to the town after years spent flying the flag abroad as a proud Buddie.
Tony McManus is widely recognised around the globe as one of the finest guitarists on the circuit.
Now, he has a concert lined up at The Wynd Auditorium – his first ‘live’ performance here in fifteen years.
The impressive fan list includes luminaries such as John Renbourn, Tommy Emmanuel and Steve Howe - guitarist with progressive rock giants, Yes.
These days, McManus lives in Canada where he regularly performs in front of huge crowds. When not gigging in North America, you'll find him touring in Australia, Japan or Eastern Europe where he has also acquired guitar guru status.
Quite apart from the constant stream of ‘live’ work, he is also in great demand as a studio musician having contributed to over SIXTY different albums!
This year is the 20th anniversary of the release of his debut album. His 1999-issued follow-up gained him worldwide recognition, but it was with the release of Ceol More in 2002 that his stature as a Grade A performer was finally sealed.
Having been nominated as Musician of the Year by both the BBC Folk Awards and The Scottish Traditional Music awards, the album ended up on many critics' end-of-the-year best-of lists.
Each year he participates in the Chet Atkins Festival in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2004 he appeared at the famous Ryman Auditorium in Nashville in the “All Star Guitar Night” featuring some of the top players in the business, and headlined by the legendary Les Paul.
He contributed music to the soundtrack of Oscar-winning director Neil Jordan’s film “Ondine” starring Colin Farrell.
His global contribution was recently recognised with a Gold Medal, after readers of Acoustic Guitar Magazine voted in their thousands to have his achievements honoured.
Tony is back in the UK to appear at a couple of summer festivals and roots music agency Brookfield-Knights invited him to play a date in his home town and he was delighted to take advantage of the opportunity.
* Tickets for the local event which takes place on Sunday, July 10 (7.45pm) on sale now (£12/£10consc and £6 under-16s) from 0345 130 5218 or PACE Box Office, Spires Drama Studios, School Wynd, Paisley.

I had some Beppe Gambetta last night and I'm still burping it up today.
They put a little too much tomato sauce in the recipe, I think.

Well there must be something in the air. Tony has been nominated in the Best Instrumentalist category for the Scottish Trad Awards 2016. You could even vote for him if you like.
