Latest from Jon Hopkins. His last, Immunity was the most interesting electronic album I've heard since the demise of Coil, so I have unreasonably high hopes for this.

I was a bit disappointed by that. There's some decent tunes on it but compared to Immunity it's cheesier and lighter sounding, like a watered down version for people who thought it was too experimental and dissonant. It doesn't have that same visceral crunchiness in its beats and the melodies are more generic, reminding me of forgotten 90s trance, house and generic clubber's chill out muzak.

Yeah, it's not in the same class as Immunity. The two long tracks, "Everything Connected" and "Luminous Beings" are lovely, but the rest comes across as being quite lightweight and inconsequential.

Anyway, now listening to the latest freebie CD from The Wire, Polish Radio Experimental Studio Revisited 1998-2018. Biosphere and Jacaszek are the big names, although there is something involving Zeitkratzer, too.

Actually, not that far off from some pics that can be viewed on my FB page.

I'm presuming driftin gave me this years ago, otherwise I've no idea how it's ended up on my work hard drive.

I luckily found this collection in a used record store the other day in perfect condition for under $35. Instant buy and something I’ll be playing continuously in my car on the way to work this week.

Probably. I love that album, especially those massive drones on the title tracks.

You have a record player in your car? Does sir fancy a drop of port while Jeeves ferries you to the tailor or does one risk staining the cravat?

The St. Paul Chamber Orchestra is opening their season with this. Opening their whole season with this!
Should be a breeze to sell, right?

They're filthy with them, from what I understand. SPCO plays bars sometimes. I love them to pieces.

Imagine the nerve of opening your 60th season with this crazy work?

I was always disappointed that Terry Riley never made it a trilogy:
In C
Win C
Spider

Anyway...

GTA IV's Liberty City at night vibes.

*edit* Now that I think about it Terry Riley was also on GTA IV's soundtrack on the same radio station as Global Communication.
