Cheering myself up after the cup-listening shenanigans with autobiographical tales of sexual violence. Album of the year, even if it was first released last year.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

I've had that on my wishlist for a while after reading something about it online. I've noticed you and Rob seem really taken by it. Guess I'll have to finally bite and see what the fuss is about.

I'm absolutely enthralled by it. It's like she's channeling Diamanda Galas and Pharmakon in order to exorcise some very personal demons.

The genre poll made me do it. It's not quite part of my top 20 but I certainly considered it just for “Baby I'm Bleeding” alone. That is proper hip-hop braggadocio.

The only album by the band who were Clock DVA until Adi Newton sacked 'em all. Some nice punk-funk with jazzy squalls, and Roger Quail remains one of my favourite drummers. Even if you don't like this kind of thing, Roger's online blog about the post-punk scene is a thing of beauty: https://www.mylifeinthemoshofghosts.com ... ger-quail/

Oranssi Pazuzu - Varahtelija (2017). My favorite metal release from last year. Lot of space rock in this one, and even some THRAK-era King Crimson influence.

With this, Box of Dub, and BMB I was going to say I think I'm really in the mood for loud percussion and ultra wobbly bass at the moment but I don't think I'm ever not in the mood for it.
