'What's Up?' and the very worst songs ever

Postby Bungo the Mungo » 16 Oct 2012, 22:26

The worst song ever. Seriously.

The only problem is, there's nothing much we can say about it. It's just a one-off. It isn't interestingly bad, even.

Or is it?

Aah, the non talents of Grange Hill Mob. I blame Nancy Reagan. The eighties were a real car crash.

Didn't it later emerge that several members of the cast smoked something illegal just prior to recording the video?

It's not worse than Four Non Blondes:

Truly, the most painful song in the history of music.

"What's Up" is a nightmarish video, mainly because of the wardrobe and the hair/makeup. Those people should be shot. Musically, it's one of the better Guns 'N Roses songs.

"Just Say No" might take the "naffest song" crown, but I kind of enjoyed listening to it!

There's nothing terrible about it for the first minute, actually - it's just another example of generic 90s alt-rock. But it quite quickly becomes unbearable from then on.

Yes, once the "oh this is a surefire hit" chorus gets repeated over and over. With that big wide mouth!

I have to agree with John here. Finding bad stuff can be a lot of fun.

other worthy candidates:

Rock Me Amadeus
Cotton Eye Joe
Rasputin

there are more, but I have happily forgotten them

Anyway, Grange Hill Mob make Langley Schools Music Project sound like a heavenly choir in comparison.
