The mystifyingly easy ride this trio of stale farts has received from critics over the last quarter of a century genuinely makes my piss boil. Further proof (if it was needed) that the demise of traditional music journalism and especially it's inkie strain shouldn't be lamented too much. Fucking rubbish.

Twas ever thus. I remember a Greil Marcus article about that whole phenomenon, written right at the time everyone thought it was so wonderful, that did not reflect very, um, charitably on the principals.

Considering the themes of bashing "We Are The World" and ironic covers where do we sit on this?

Kill it with fire, and only once it has burned out, and we are sure it is dead, piss on it.

Dunno if this is too obvious, or has already been picked. But it fits.

I can't hate it 'cos the singer looks chubby and ever so slightly awkward. He's got a good face, you can imagine if you stopped him and said 'I really like 'Dance The Night Away' ' he'd be over the moon. He's the anti-Bono.

Wyclef Jean also sounds like he has stomach problems in the equivalent section of the Haiti version...

It's not as bad as his cover of "Tainted Love", to be fair. I'm not saying it isn't wretched, but it's only the fifth or sixth circle of hell.
