1950's Music Thread
I don't remember there being a thread dedicated to the 1950's (apologies if there is and i missed it), but i'd love to hear some of BCB's favourite '50's tunes - rock and roll, r&b, rockabilly, doo wop, jazz, country, etc - just something that makes you think 'Wow, what an awesome piece of music from an awesome time for music'!
I've had this on high youtube rotation today, as i've been on a bit of an Alden Bunn kick of late...
I just love the energy and joy that oozes out of 45s like this one, and the way it blurs those genre lines we love to stick on music now: is it r&b, doo wop, rock and roll, rockabilly, blues..? Who can tell, and who cares?! It swings like a mothertrucker, and has one of the most perfect lyrics for restless youths that was ever etched into wax...
Short time to live, long time to stay dead.
So, big names or small names, million sellers or obsure tracks that barely saw the light of day - let's rock and roll, cool BCB cats and kittens.

^^
Great calls, pb - Hank and the Midnighters' 'Work With Me Annie' is a long time fave too.
How about some Amos Milburn with the 'Chicken Shack Boogie'...

And nice 5 Royales tune, T, never heard that one. They did the original version of 'Think', if memory serves.
Some Elmore James anyone?

B-side to Seventeen. A b-side! Mrs JKB and I regularly jive around the dining room when we play this on the jukebox.

Great tune, Jumper - 'Seventeen' is a stone classic, never heard this one though, cheers!
Late big-band swing and jump r&b were often blurring into each other beautifully in the early-50s, and one of my fave tunes in this vein is 'I Can't Lose With The Stuff I Use' by Lester Williams...

1950's Music Thread
I'm on the phone, so posting YouTube stuff is clumsy, but I want to keep the thread going.
If someone can post either of these, I'd be grateful.
Nolan Strong and the Diablos - The Wind (it's a bit ramshackle, but this is the version you want) and Mind Over Matter. This has a little guitar break that sounds exactly like Keef on Exile. Probably coincidence.
