Egregious typos and mistakes on album covers
I suppose this is the biggest one:
Any other good ones?
It can be on the back cover, booklets, ads, song titles, whatever, etc. as well.

Egregious Typos... didn't he play bass for Aphrodite's Child?
I've been talking about writing a book - 25 years of TEFL - for a few years now. I've got it in me.

Re: Egregious typos and mistakes on album covers
I'm frequently amazed at how often they get through -
more so on CDs, it seems!
Are graphic designers just chronically bad spellers?
I'm often just 'Doh! How can you look at that and not SEE?'
My (first reissue) single disc expanded version of 'The Who Sell Out'
has 'persperation' - unlike my three vinyl reissue copies,
which all have the correct spelling.
'With The Beetles', now that's understandable...
Got a copy of Abel Ferrarar's (sic) 'The Addiction' here on DVD...

There were a whole batch of similar typos on Who re-issues. One I own has the 'O' in the band's name as a zero on the CD spine.
Early Island CDs of Fairport Conventions were even worse. The back cover of Unhalfbricking had at least two of the eight tracks spelt incorrectly, whilst Liege & Lief was issued with the title spelt Liege & Life on the spine, whilst also having a photograph of the wrong line-up inside the booklet.

I'd forgotten that! That one is quite subtly (?) but absolutely maddening, I think!
I remember when those Johnny Cash American Recordings came out several years back in a sort of little cloth-backed book, there was a totally in your face one in the actual book, something like 'Uncagedd' (?) in big letters on one of the title pages. Had I actually bought that rather than just borrowed it from the library to copy, I would have been more than a little enraged...

...
Did they at least change the spelling of the singer's name from Daltry to Daltrey?

I have that too. Very irksome!

Not an LP but my fave misspelling was on a cassette-single by the delectable Billy Rat Cyrus.

Re: Egregious typos and mistakes on album covers
In my quest to discover the more ridiculous corners of 80s metal, I recently picked up a copy of Manowar's Battle Hymns CD. The back sleeve proudly announces that one track features 'narration by Orson Wells'. As if it wasn't bad enough that the director of Hollywood's greatest film was reduced to accepting any work he could get in the final decade of his life, he had to cope with the fact that a bunch of metal herberts could even spell his name properly...

Re: Egregious typos and mistakes on album covers
This is really another thing altogether... typos on foreign issues of albums.
I have a Japanese import of Ronnie Lane's Slim Chance and it's credited to SLIME CHANCE on the Obi and spine. That always makes me laugh.

Re: Egregious typos and mistakes on album covers
The designer of the "Heroes" album sleeve mixed up some lines in the credits (this was, you may not remember, at a time when you received the text from the typesetter, cut it up and glued it to a cardboard artwork).
It should read:
Recorded at Hansa by the Wall, Berlin
and Mountain Studios, Montreux.
Engineers: Tony Visconti, Colin Thurston,
Assistant Engineers: etc. etc.
(And not: Engineers: Tony Visconti, Colin Thurston, and Mountain Studios, Montreux)
None of the CD reissues has corrected this. Of course.
Sony managed to make three typos in the tracklisting for "The Best Of Bob Dylan".
In the book accompanying Buck Owen's "Open Up Your Heart" his producer is referred to (twice!) as Ken "Norton".
Also, my name... aw, forget it.

Re: Egregious typos and mistakes on album covers
On the recent Sound Affects reissue the songs are credited to WELLLER.
Something wrong here too, I just can't put my finger on it:
(World's shortest album etc....)
Right, I'm off to listen to some Genesis.

Egregious typos and mistakes on album covers
On a double cd of Before The Flood, the act is named as BOB DYLAND AND THE BAND on the spine.
