Egregious typos and mistakes on album covers

Humble Pie's "You're So Good For Me" is listed on the back cover of the Smokin' LP as "You're So Good To Me". (Oddly, the label on the original US LP gave the correct title, but not the one on the UK LP - c.f. discogs.com.) It's a mistake that has continued to be carried over to (SA)CDs. ASCAP has it listed by the correct title - I wonder if something like that could cause writing/publishing royalties to go unpaid?

The song "The Image of Me," recorded by the Burrito Brothers, is credited on the original album (and most if not all subsequent reissues) as having been written by Harlan Howard. In fact, the song was written by Wayne Kemp, and originally recorded by Conway Twitty -- though Howard did write a less successful song with the same title.

Yeah, that sort of thing must happen a lot. I know there were issues with a few of the Stones' covers ("Love In Vain", "Prodigal Son", maybe "You Got To Move"?), though I think those got corrected pretty quickly.

Does not include "Surfin' U.S.A." I'd love to think that was somebody's wonderful joke, but Chess Records wasn't particularly noted for such things.

Such a legendarily weird error that it hasn't been corrected on more recent editions (CD, etc.).

Well, it DOES include Sweet Little Sixteen. But the real egregious part is that it isn't a live album at all, but studio hits and outtakes (The Man and the Donkey) with audience noises added to create "new" product while Chuck was in jail.

In every incarnation of the Burrito Bros' albums I've seen (which is plenty), the song "The Image of Me" is attributed to Harlan Howard. In fact, it was originally a hit for Conway Twitty, and written by Wayne Kemp, who was on his staff. At one point I contacted Howard's widow (on another matter) and it turns out that he had written an entirely different song with the same title. And his estate is raking up the big Burrito bucks to this day. I posted the same error above, but here's the Harlan song by Jim Reeves.

The Live Kinks was the U.S. iteration of Live At Kelvin Hall. Unlike such klassics as Kontroversy and Face To Face the LP managed to remain available from Reprise Records well into the '80s - and in all that time the cover tracklisting had the set opening with "All Day And All Of The Night" rather than what it actually did start with, "Till The End Of The Day". They amended the label copy at some point, but never the cover.
